Gävle Concert Hall is beautifully situated right next to a river flowing through the city. The concert hall is also a creative event and meeting venue in inspiring surroundings. The building houses conference facilities, a café, bars, a restaurant and, after a major renovation in 2013-14, also includes a section called the Children’s Concert Hall.
The room entitled the Tambourine offers many opportunities for music, games and other children’s activities and concerts in a smaller format. Once a week, there is also an open preschool in the Tambourine with music and rhythm for children of all ages – from newborns to almost school age.
Gävle Concert Hall is owned by Gävle Municipality who places great emphasis on good accessibility for staff and visitors to all municipal facilities and buildings. The Concert Hall is no exception. During its renovation, the Cibes A5000 platform lift was installed with three stops and a lifting height of 3.45m. This makes it easy for staff and musicians to transport instruments and equipment between floors. At the same time the Tambourine is much more accessible to visitors young and old.
When the Concert Hall was inaugurated in 1998 it was awarded a prize for its architecture with a facade clad in deep blue tiles and beautiful bright interior materials which form the basis of its austere elegance. The recent refurbishment has also been governed by a high level of architectural ambition, and the necessity of finding the best lift solution in order to increase accessibility in the existing buildings. The Tambourine is a bright, spacious, open room and the Cibes A5000 with its glass shaft fits perfectly into this bright environment.
